New Zealand considers Canadian bishop THE Board of Deputies of British Jews said that it was “surprised and disappointed” that the Conservative Party leader, David Cameron, had described government support for school visits to Auschwitz as a “gimmick”. “MPs of all parties have supported these visits and understand their importance,” the president of the Board of Deputies, Henry Grunwald QC, said last week. Welsh bishop and his wife part THE Bishop of St Davids, the Rt Revd Carl Cooper, and his wife, Joy, have separated after “difficulties” in their relationship. In a letter to the clergy of the diocese, they said that no one else was involved on either side. They have three children, aged 17, 20, and 22. Synod corrections In our General Synod coverage, we called the Ven. Peter Ballard Archdeacon of Blackburn, not (as he is) Lancaster; and we called Gill Henwood Bill. Also, in a general shot of the Synod, which we captioned “standing ovation”, Synod members were actually praying. Our apologies. |
