The President of Kenya, Mwai Kibaki (left), and the opposition leader, Raila Odinga (right), attend prayers led by the Anglican Archbishop of Kenya, the Most Revd Benjamin Nzimbi, in Nairobi last Friday.

The two leaders had that day signed a power-sharing agreement. The former UN secretary general, Kofi Annan, brokered the deal for a coalition government after a two-month political crisis, in which 1500 people died, thousands fled their homes, and the economy was severely undermined
