Court rules on names on graves
THE Chancellor of Birmingham’s consistory court, Judge Martin Cardinal, has ruled that a name on a gravestone could not be abbreviated, or a nick-name used, because future generations might not be aware of the shortened form of the name. He said in a ruling on 20 June that it would, however, be “entirely reasonable” to include both the full and foreshortened names. The judge was responding to a plea for a faculty from Simon Stone, to be able to inscribe a stone to his father, the late Rodney William Lawton Stone.

The college will train ordinands while they live in their communities, and will also be open to lay people.
